"Dentestetica is the place to get an amazing smile. No pain. No drama."

Dental Implants

Dental implant treatment is safe and efficient, fully replacing missing natural teeth and leaving the neighbouring teeth intact. In the DENTestetica clinic, dental implant surgical procedures are conducted exclusively by second degree specialists in dental surgery, prosthodontics or periodontology who have completed advanced training programmes. Implant insertion, which is absolutely painless, is performed under local anaesthesia or, if requested by the patient, sedoanalgesia which, in turn, is supervised by an anaesthesiologist. We employ proven implantation systems that have an international warranty called an implant pass. To position titanium rods, we use high-tech rotation devices (implant micromotors - physio dispenser) and state-of-the-art ultrasound knives (piezo surgery), commonly used by neurosurgeons. The implantation procedure is preceded by precise, 3D diagnostic tests: cone beam CT scans.

Dental Implants

A dental implant substitutes a natural tooth root. Nowadays, implantation is the best method to replace missing dentition: not only is the gap filled, but the lost teeth can be reconstructed while regaining full functionality and aesthetics. Bridges and dentures can aid in mastication, however they cannot replace natural mastication. From false teeth in a bridge or denture, surface forces cannot be directly conveyed to the bone. Unlike with natural dentition, they are conveyed indirectly by the adjacent teeth or the maxillary or mandibular mucous.  Dental implants work in an entirely different way.  As the titanium rod is inserted into the bone as a substitute for a natural tooth root, the chewing force from the surface of the false tooth is transmitted directly to the jaw bone. This ensures that the healthy structure and functioning of the bone are better preserved, preventing rapid bone degeneration, which otherwise, as the bone bears a reduced load, tends to occur. A dental implant consists of three components: a titanium rod inside the jaw bone, a titanium or ceramic abutment and a prosthetic crown.

The implant rod is made of titanium, a bio-compatible material which does not elicit allergic reactions. Titanium is non-ferromagnetic and therefore, patients with dental implants can be safely examined with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The surface of the implant rod is covered with an extremely porous substance, which facilitates and accelerates osseointegration, that is the integration of the implant in the bone. As a result of this unique phenomenon, bone cells are incorporated into the external layers of the titanium rod and in this way a stable union of bone and implant is obtained. When the implant has been inserted into the bone (which is a painless procedure performed under local anaesthesia), the implantologist sutures the gum for a period of 4-6 months, during which the implant firmly osseointegrates. Afterwards, the upper part of the implant is exposed and healing caps are fitted for about 2-4 weeks. The reason for this procedure is to stimulate the growth of the gingival tissue surrounding the implant. When the gum is healed, the implant is loaded with an abutment, to which either a crown or an overdenture clasp is secured with a screw or cement. In the lateral region (with the posterior teeth) titanium abutments and porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns are usually placed. In the front of the mouth (where the teeth are visible when the patient smiles and speaks), non-metal, zirconium oxide ceramic abutments and crowns are most frequently inserted.
